Hi,

I am newbie to Mac Mini. Can you explore the steps to schedule a task & how to run it. I am trying to schedule a software i.e. BucketCommander.jar, its a command line version of Bucket Explorer.

I tried iCal to scheduled, but it takes parameters to run.
Normally to run on command prompt, the require following parameters-
java -jar BucketCommander.jar -action:upload -authenticate:my_profile_name -emailprofile:email_profile

If I schedule through iCal then how to pass those parameters. Please explain complete process of scheduled task.

Regards-
Neelam Sharma

Create an Automator application to run via iCal.

Use the Run Shell Script option from the Utilities Library. Save it as an application and schedule it via iCal.

This Bucket Commander runs simply by typing this in the terminal, yes?

java -jar BucketCommander.jar -action:upload -authenticate:my_profile_name -emailprofile:email_profile

Open Automator. Select the Utilities Library and the RunShell Script action (drag it to the right).

Paste:

java -jar BucketCommander.jar -action:upload -authenticate:my_profile_name -emailprofile:email_profile

in the Shell field. Save the whole thing as an Automator Application.

Use iCal to create a recurring event with an alarm of "Open a File" and select the Automator Application by choosing the other option versus the iCal option in the alarm settings.
QUOTE Thanks
