G'day and welcome to the forums.

That is a related hardware problem known as a kernel panic attack. Many causes including memory failing/wrong type, failing hard drive etc. Why would you boot from the disc that way? Pop in install DVD, reboot and after the chime hold down the 'C' key.

Then of course your Superdrive may be failing or have failed. Apple Hardware Test on your original system discs will also diagnose problems. Thjis also may help:-

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

I can see 'unsupported CPU' in that report.
What version of OS X are you trying to install and what are your Mac's specs?

My Mac is the new 13 inch macbook pro with the i5 processor. I just bought it last week after my Mac air died. I remember that when I was trying to save my air I tried to reinstall the Mac os but ran into a different problem and could not, so when I got the new one I just wanted to make sure I could at the very least reinstall it if had problems later on and now ran into this.

I think I also tried holding the c button but will try it again later today thanks.

So by what I hear ya saying a new computer should not give me the message right? Should I take it back to the store then?

Ps- the unsupported CPU message is a the top of the image that is zoomed in

Well for one thing, if something is not broken why try to repair it? It also appears that you're using the wrong disk to try to reinstall OS X on your new 13" MBP. (That's what the unsupported CPU message is really saying.)

Take it back to the Apple store and let them sort it out. Fooling with it any more will just lead to other problems. Let us know how it went.

You don't have the disc for the MBA in do you??

I'm on board with the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" logic.

sure, will do.

It's just that since I just very recently had trouble when reinstalling the Mac OS on a previous computer I wanted to make sure that If in the future I needed to do it on this one I would be able to.

Will let you know how it turns out.

yeah I was definitely using the wrong disk, I made sure to pick the new one and did not get the error. I think I was using an older disk with snow leopard I bought like 6 months ago. Thank for the input everyone. Sorry about the dumb mistake, I guess my computer wasn't the only thing that panicked.
