I notice that as a normal user in Snow Leopard I use bash. However, startup scripts like .bashrc or .bash_profile don't seem to be loaded when I open up a terminal. I have to literally run 'source .bashrc' for it to work. Is there a global file I need to edit? What about for root? Root uses /bin/sh instead.
