New iMac owner here. I need to open port 2086 to run whm under cpanel. Since the app is really server-based, I'm not sure how to open this port. Any help for this noob would be greatly appreciated. OS X 10.6

Where are you running CPanel and Apache? On your iMac or elsewhere?

Are you using a router to firewall you from the Internet or are you directly connected to your cable/DSL/Internet modem?

If you are using a router, you can add a firewall rule there to forward traffic on 2086 to your Mac. You'll have to use static IP addresses to make this work.

I've never heard about having to open a port to access cPanel.

@schweb - it's not for cpanel; it's for WHM within cpanel

@Raz0rEdge - I'm accessing the server using the verizon mi-fi card
