Hey guys,
quick question: i'm installing a new 500 gb Wester Digital on my brothers Macbook. I'm running into trouble installing the OS. it keeps on saying "you cannot install mac OS X on this volume. i'm not sure if it's a formatting issue or what, i've tried it as what the HDD was before formatting (which worked for my brothers Macbook and my old iBook), i've tried OS X extended, OS X extended (journaled), i'm not sure what i'm missing! or could it be that these disks are wrong for the laptop (i was pretty sure they're the same year and specs).
Thanks

Installing 10.5 on a
Macbook 2007

That is the message you get when you are using the wrong discs.
Either find his original discs, contact Apple to send you out a set of replacement discs, or purchase Snow Leopard Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.)

Format Mac OS Extended (Journalled) first up and if you cannot do that you have the wrong discs for the computer. original system discs are extremely model specific and generally one model will not work with another. If he does not have his own discs, a purchaser of Snow Leopard for US$29 is the go.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

Or put the MacBook's old HDD in an enclosure and clone it back to the new one.
