Hi,

I have recently purchased Office 2011 for Mac. Upon trying to install it an error message appeared saying that in order to install the application, I needed to update to v. 10.5.8 . I downloaded this update from the internet. However, when I come to install it, I get to the 'Destination Select' screen and when I select Macintosh HD it says "You cannot install Mac OS X Update on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update." The issue cannot be space as I have 80gb+ free space on that volume.

Why isn't it letting me install? Is there anything I can do to rectify the issue?

Thanks in advance!

(I am running a late 2006 imac)

And I would "assume" you are still using Tiger 10.4... yes????

You will need to purchase Leopard or Snow Leopard to upgrade from 10.4.

Maybe check and verify what version you have in About This Mac.

2006 iMacs in some cases came with OS X.4 Tiger as the operating system and if you have this that is why you cannot install Office 2011 as our moderator has posted. Also it must be an Intel iMac and folk do get the year and models mixed.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
