Where did you purchase the DVD? Is it Black? A Retail copy? If not that is probably the issue.

Hi there,

I want to do an archive and install because my usb drives aren't reading properly (they'll eject randomly).

My question is if I need the same install disc I used to upgrade to Leopard. My old roommate gave me Leopard when he bought it, but he lives really far away now and I can't get the disc from him. My sister has Leopard though. Could I use her install disc even though I've never used it?

Hi, I've had my macbook 2 years now and have never had any problems with it until a couple of days ago I turned it on and it came up with the white screen flashing a grey question mark at me. I read that this means there is a corrupted file and that I would need to re-install the system but when I started the archive and install process, I came across the 'select a destination' screen and there is nothing there to select, I can't even select the options button. Does anybody know why this is or how to help?

Deb, sounds like your hard drive has died and you need to replace it.

hi i need some help with my imac (24 inch). 2 days ago I found that browsing the net seems to be very slow and i found 2 unknown folders in my harddisk.. so i restarted my imac... then a screen comes up and ask me to restart.. i think it's called kernel panic... i tried the standard troubleshooting but still the same screen kept appearing.. so i did the Archive and Install and i was prompted to key in password... now here is another problem cos i did not set any password and i read online that i can reset by booting from the cd and go to the utility to change the password.. ok tell me if i did anything wrong here->

1) I restarted the imac
2) press down the option key
3) when the screen shows my harddisk icon, i inserted the cd
4) i click on the cd and pressed the arrow button

KERNEL PANIC message shows up again!!!!!! argh... what should i do now????
