cannot install mac os x on this computer

Hi guys, I've got a annoying problem with installing mac os x 10.6.2.

I've got this type of imac:

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: IM51.0090.B09
SMC Version: 1.8f2

So it should be able to install 10.6.2 on it right?
I've read a couple of forums and mac support, one of the things I tried is to update my firmware, but I still can't install mac os x. I got an original disc....

I also can't run a hardware test, my imac just shuts down. Can anybody help me plz???

When you say you have an "original disc"...is this a grey disc. Is this the disc that ORIGINALLY came with this computer? If not...they are model specific...and won't work on your computer.

An original Snow Leopard (OS 10.6) install disc only costs $29 at the Apple Store.

Well it is not a retail install version but one from another computer and hence it will never install alas. And did this white disc come with the computer when brand new do you know or was it purchased pre-loved? An iMac 5.1 2GHz is a 2007 model and Snow Leopard would not have been the original install disc, but Tiger OS X.4.7.
