I encountered a new problem today with 10.6.6. I had a macbook pro connected to another mac that was in target mode, and when I was done with everything, I went to eject the drive as normal. I got a message that I could not eject because it was in use by a program. I killed all apps, same problem. I suspected that spotlight was trying to index, so I went to System Preferences and attempted to add the external "target" drive to the privacy list for spotlight. I received an error that it could not be added because of an "unknown error."

The initial warning about the drive being in use does allow to "force" eject, but gives a warning that this may cause damage, which is a bit discomfiting.

I tested whether the same thing would happen with a different mac serving as the target drive and it did. I restarted my macbook pro; same problem.

Any suggestions as to what is going on? I suspect a recent update may have introduced a problem, but I haven't seen any documentation about this problem.
QUOTE Thanks
