Hello all. During a recent visit to my local Apple store, I asked a genius if I can update my 10.4 iMac to 10.6. It is an Intel machine. He said it's better to do a clean install of the new OS (wipe out current computer). Does anyone here recommend this as well? My iMac's specs:

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Plenty of hard drive space

I always recommend doing a clean install over upgrading. I don't know that it's as important with OS X as it is with Windows, but it seems the safest way to ensure that nothing gets botched up, in my mind. Troublesome to back everything up and put it back, but I'd rather spend the time doing that. Just gives me peace of mind I'm sure someone else will post about if it's actually really necessary/best or not

In short yes and then do a clean install of your applications etc.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
