My computer said there was an update ready to be installed, and that it needed to be restarted. I just let it do its thing and mail stopped working, because it was not in the applications folder for the update.
I want to re do the update now that the mail app is back in the applications folder. Re-installing from the disc did not work. imac 21.5 3.06 Intel Core 2 Duo Mac OS X version 10.6.6 The update was installed on the night of january 30. Hope this helps. |

Do you remember what the update was? If so, head over to Apple's site and search for the update there. As long as you know the name of the update, you should be able to reapply it.

For starters download and install the OS X.6.6 combo updater.
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1349 On that date from memory there was a download of an updated version of iDVD to version 7.1 of some 90MB. Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer! |

thanks harry, i've started the download of that update.
i could not seem to navigate the apple website to find the updates category. i appreciate you posting that link. the update i installed on january added a new application in my springboard called "the app store" or something along those lines. i hope this solves my problem. |

The update that includes the Mac App Store is the 10.6.6 update for OS X. If that is the update that was causing the problems, you are indeed getting the right file.

Using the "main" search (the search in the top right corner) on their home page won't help with support. To find updates and other system related downloads, you need to use their support search (for downloads) which can be found here.
