I think this might help. Open Applications, find the software program (whether it's a stand alone or in a folder) you want to remove. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the actual program. A dialog box should appear. Some apps have uninstall programs. If so click on uninstall, if not I always just send the entire folder to the trash.
