I have forgotten my su password. Is there a way to recover it or reset it?

What is a "su" password? I'm assuming you forgot your admin password?

Boot the machine with your original install DVD and reset the password. See this LINK.

su is a Terminal command. It means "Super User".

    I'll try the DVD method.

root isn't enabled by default so unless you enabled it you shouldn't have a "su" password.
Your "sudo" password is the same as your login password assuming you're an administrator.

You mean "sudo" from the terminal. Yes, it's the same as the admin password so if you reset the admin password with the DVD you should be back in business with terminal.

Setting up the "root user" is a different matter. I have the root user account active on my machine but use a separate Userid and password to access it.
