Mac OS X.6.6 Missing Text

My office recently updated to Snow Leopard OS. Since that time when I open an excel or word file, I cannot view any of the text. The same goes for text in DWG files and in cells of other office management software. Any ideas?? Older files that were created before the update don't seem to have been affected.
