Hello, I became a Macbook Pro owner for the first time and so far I'm loving it but it appears I have to face my first problem. I have downloaded the VLC player and I've installed it, everything went fine, I dragged the VLC icon into the applications folder in the dock but whenever I go into applications the icon is missing. However, when I click it, it works fine. How could I fix it?

Thank you for the answers

If the application runs fine, then it is simply installed elsewhere. Open up Spotlight, enter in VLC and when it shows up in the list, simply mouse over it. The tooltip that comes up will show you where it is installed.

If you want to application in your /Applications folder, simply move it there.

Hmm, I don't think you understand, for instance look at Adium. While using it, the icon is there, but in Applications it's missing.

Move it out of the applications folder, reboot then move it back in... seems to work for most people.
