After the "Finder" window is open, how do I make it bigger? At 67, my eyesight is not what it used to be.

On all application windows in OS X, as is with the finder, on the bottom right hand corner you have this:
All you need to do is drag it out by clicking on it with the mouse or trackpad and moving it towards the lower left part if the screen.
You can also use Download Right Zoom for Mac - Changes the default behavior of the green window zoom button. MacUpdate.com which changes the behaviour of the green dot on the top left of the windows to maximise them like it does in a Windows OS.
