Do an upgrade, don't wipe your disk clean. If you avoid anything that says anything about formatting, or wiping a disk, don't do it. Do the one that says upgrade, or archive and install. That will ensure all your stuff is left in tact. Of course all the Apple stuff will be upgraded, but for the most part, everything else should be left alone.
