safari browser window missing

I accidentally clicked on the legend to the R of the broswer address line that says " remove this item" Now I cannot restore it have tried re-loading safari but it does not return so have to access the net via Google as home page.

toMACsh is offline
Right click or control-click to the R of the window title.
Select Customize Toolbar...
Drag anything you like onto the Toolbar and close the drop-down
