My Mac has been running incredibly slow recently. I use the last generation MacBook Air and have Microsoft Office 2011, VMWare Fusion, Safari, and sometimes Photoshop all running simultaneously. Since it started running slow, I did a Verify Disk and noticed that I was getting an invalid directory error. I ra fsck -fy and it repaired the disk. However, it keeps occurring constantly - which I assume is what is causing my computer to run so slow. Is this something that a complete reformat will fix or do I have a failing hard drive?

Thanks in advance!

You can certainly try an erase and reinstall if you wish (after making a backup of course), but generally when a hard drive exhibits constant errors as yours is, it's time to replace it.

And BTW, that's a lot of power apps to be running on the last generation Air which is not exactly noted for its speed and robustness.
