need a program to convert to mp4/quicktime

I have a bunch of AVI movies that i want to convert to MP4, preferably a free software as I am pretty broke at the moment, Lol.

Also, question, is iDvD for burning movies onto disc ?

VisualHub or ffmpegx will do the job for you, and iDVD is not specifically for that no, it does do it, but not easily with the files you want to use. Better to get something like Burn, a free disc burning utility, to do that.
Google will find that software for you

But if I'm burning Mp4 iDvD should work, shouldnt it ?
I'm thinking that because that's Apple's main file type lol

Well maybe, but iDVD is a DVD creation program, for making DVD's with menus etc, it is not a specific burning utility.
