Okay first off I'm a new user.

I just purchased a Mac Book Pro 13" 2.4 GHz. I also got the Apple Care Protection Plan. And then I saw Mac OS X Lion. My questions are

1) Does the Apple Care Protection Plan cover an upgrade to Lion or will I have to purchase it separately? If so, how much have they traditionally been in the past?

2) Will my Mac Book be able to handle it?
I have 4 gigs of RAM, Core 2 Duo, Ya know, all the usual.
I'm hoping so, because those features look sweet. I've been given hope by the MacBook Air, which has the same processor, fewer GHz, and 2 gigs less RAM, and I don't think Apple would release a Mac Book that they're hoping to be the next generation if it can't handle their next OS.

Thanks!

No, AppleCare is a warranty extension for your Macbook, it has nothing to do with free software upgrades. The traditional cost varies. It could be any where from $19 - $150, most likely at the higher end.

Look at your last statement and I think you have your answer. No one can answer for sure since Apple hasn't released min requirements yet, but any new model is going to be fine.

1) No, you'll have to buy it. Assume $129.99.

2) Yes. If anything the first Gen Core Duo machines might get left out but that's it (except for the PPC machines).

I would think all Intel based Mac's will be able to run Lion..the older the Mac, the worse it will run it..so you should be completely fine..

1. $130ish
2. Yes, They released new macbook airs with core 2 duos at 1.4GHz and the nvidia 320m the same day the demoed Lion. Yes. I imagine it will be optimized for OpenCL and will offload a lot of tasks to that 320m. Your computer will be fine. I expect my aluminum MacBook to handle it easily.

I didn't think AppleCare covers anything to do with OS X itself, it's just the warranty on your computer.

And if you bought your MBP recently, chances are it will be able to handle the next OS if it's coming out by summer.
