Hello guys,

I'm a fairly new Mac user and need to recover my WiFi password. I've tried the Network -> Airport -> Advanced -> Show password method, but the password field is blank and not filled in. I tried to use Keychain as well but there is no entry for it.

This is confusing because I'm connected to the network right now! I would assume Keychain should have stored the password, but it hasn't yet I'm still able to automatically connect! How is this possible?

Is there another way to view the password?

Show password just means that when you type in the password it will show the characters, not the dots.

Just access your router by typing 192.168.1.1 in your browser and then entering the user name and password. Then go to Wireless Settings (netgear router) or the corresponding section in your routers menu and look for the passphrase. That is your password.

Interesting there is no Keyring entry in Keychain manager for your router. All my routers and Access points are there with username and password. Are you sure you are looking for the correct name in the Keychain manager? If you find it you then have to enter your Admin password then the key for the router will show up.

Not all routers I have used allow you to see your WiFi password.
