Hi All,

Can anyone recommend where I can get a full retail copy of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5? I've had a quick look on ebay but i'm worried I'll buy something that doesn't work.

I am wanting to update my PowerPC G5 from v10.3.

Also, does it matter if the copy has already been used on someone elses Mac?

Can't get it in the store, but still hearing that you can get it by calling Apple sales.

Probably as cheap there as ebay - it is possible to get a bargain, but I've been seeing Leopard sell for above retail on ebay here in the states.

e-Bay is basically your best choice. You want the black disk with a big "X" on it.

Be ready to pay $100-$125 for it.

Sure would like to know if they still have them so that I'm not recommending that to people if they don't. No one that I've suggested that to has posted back saying yes or no.

Believe I've seen a single post in the last month or so that verified they got it by calling Apple. Don't remember whether it was in this forum or not. You're definitely right that most do not bother giving Apple a try.

Folks that I have suggested that to have not responded back either. Generally though, the ones who have responded back were those who were trying to replace their original install set, not the retail black DVD with the X on it.

At one time our local Apple store had them in stock but they have long since run out. The only sets they have now are Snow Leopard. Like Nick said, eBay is probably going to be the best place to find them.

Lady says you can still order it.

You didn't happen to ask if it was the "model specific" install disks (similar or the same the gray model specific disks that ship with a new Mac)...or the "full retail" black disc with the big X on it?

And how much $$$ of course.

This was the Store, not AppleCare, so it would be the retail version.

And how much $$$ of course.
