Question how to cancel automatic umlaut characters on mac snow leopard?
Hello, I have this problem with my mac keyboard typing an umlaut characters. Each time I press first " then A I get ─ or "then U I get ▄. How to get rid of this? I don't need umlaut letters at all!

I am very sorry for I don't understand how I can reinstall the language. Do I need to reinstall my whole operating system? Is that the only suggestion? When we bought my imac in Ireland from apple, everything was installed already
