Too Loud Volume

hi,
I commonly listen to music on my imac with headphones. Unfortunately my headphones make the music very loud. Is there some software I can use or some setting I can change so that I can just make the volume super low?
p.s. I know about the trick for parts of a bar, or muting, and unmuting the sound, but it is still too loud

Just use the volume slider in iTunes, or any other player for that matter. Or is this the trick you meant?

I agree with scathe here, but another thing you can do too, is hold shift+option while changing volume. The volume with then go up/down in quarters.

What mac do you have?

If you don't have one already, you can put a volume slider on your menu bar.

The newer keyboards has volume control built into it.
