Hello, I'm new around here

I have a 15'' MacBook Pro, and have bootcamped windows onto it. Recently, I cannot boot into mac OSX. This has just started happening, it has worked flawlessly for almost a year now.

I'm pretty sure that it is something that that stupid micro$oft did to the partition with Mac on it. It changed the letter assignment of MacintoshHD from F: to G: and now nothing will boot, even if I change it back.

Help pls!!

Stefan

What happens if you hold down the "Option" key during the reboot process? Can you enter OS X that way by choosing your MacIntosh HD?

Does the same thing. I get into Windows fine (that is how I am writing this) but Mac just gets stuck on the blue screen.

The screen turns white and shows the apple logo, then turns blue with a little loading circle, then flashes blue, and goes back to the blue screen with loading circle and cycles like that forever.

I've tried safe mode, I've tried single user mode and doing the reccomended commands, I just don't know what else to try

It looks like the OS X boot sector somehow was damaged or may have been overwritten by Windows. Try booting your Mac with the original install DVD and use Disk Utility to verify and repair the drive. Let's see what happens.

If the boot sector can not be repaired, you're going to be faced with having to reinstall OS X. If you've been making backups with Time Machine though, it will be a lot easier to restore everything.

I'm sorry, I'm new at mac, so I'm not sure how to boot using the DVD, do I hold down a button while it boots with the cd inside? (I'm guessing it is Option and then I choose the DVD to boot from)

Yes, you can do it that way or just hold down the C key when you hear the chime. It may take a few minutes to boot from the DVD, and when it does you'll want to exit from the OS X installation. You do that by clicking on the top menu item "Utilities" and choose "Disk Utility".

Thanks for the help so far

So I've tried to fix the file permissions...a LOT needed to be fixed. Unfortunatly there are 3 files that "have been changed but cannot be fixed"...and when I try to get into the Mac OSX, it still cycles through the blue screen and won't boot.

I'm guessing there isn't really way to fix these 3 files (but I can hope )

So I'm figuring that I'll have to do a clean reformat. Is there any way to keep the apps and files? I don't have any backups (big mistake I know) but there isn't much that is absolutely essential, and what is really important, I probably can go through windows and copy/past those files.

Just a little update, I used my mac CD, and even with NO BACKUP whatsoever, I was able to get my computer to work again and when I booted up... SURPRISE! I lost no data, or anything! Computer back to how it was before it crashed
