insufficient permission to access file

I am trying to overwrite an file with another and i get the message insufficient permission to access file. why can't I under "get info" I have the read and write allowed for everyone

How about supplying us with some more information? Folks who read these forums are very helpful but no one can help with a problem if they don't know the specifics.

Agreed with chscag. Where did you get this file? Did you create it? What type of file is it? What directory is it stored in?
