I am a user of mac but not that technical so bear with me. My second hard disappeared from my desktop. My son said he did some thing to the permissions of the drive via the command I window. I have tried to repair permissions with the DU tool but it will not let me access. the option to repair permissions is grayed-out. I can repair the drive but there is nothing wrong with it.

Any ideas?

I am running 10.4.11
