I've noticed after i've updated everything to the newest versions of everything..

My mac seems a bit slower.
Videos, (youtube, and other video hosting sites) will not play after a while.

-When i start my mac up they will play fine, but say i go away for a few, (leave running or put to sleep) they will not play anymore.

Can someone just put me in the right direction?
Thanks.

I'm running a 09' 13" pro.
2.26ghz; 4g ram; safari version 5

Anything else you need to know, let me know.

There are some people, me included, that have noticed performance degradation in Safari 5. There doesn't seem to be a clear reason. I've actually switched to Chrome until the next OS or Safari update to see if it fixes the problem.

There is a Simple Fix to This Actually. Run the Computer Using the 64 Bit Kernel and Extensions.

I already am. It doesn't fix it. People all over the net have been complaining of issues with Safari 5, although it's not consistent.

Yep I do, all the normal maintenance stuff.

It's probably related to other things on the system or maybe even hardware specific configurations. It certainly isn't too widespread, but there is definitely a segment of people have a lot of issues with Safari 5.

How does one repair disk permissions and clean the Safari caches ?

Thanks

The easiest way is just to use a program like Cocktail or OnyX which will do all the cleaning for you, especially when it comes to cache's.

But you can also repair permissions manually by using Disk Utility, selecting your drive and clicking "Repair".

You can clear Safari's cache by going to the Safari Menu and choosing Empty Cache.

So both achieve the same result, the difference is with one of them I need to download extra software to do it for me ?

Is one method better than the other ? I mean are OnyX or Cocktail capable of doing other cleaning things which I can't do manually ?

Or do they just do two things and that is the thing from the Disk Utility and Clearing Safari's Cache which can be done though Safari's Menus !

I'm just confused why I would install extra software when they are not needed.

Thanks Schweb
