This problem is more than a year old.
When my Mac Book hard drive died (just a few months old at the time) they replaced the drive but installed OS-X 10.5 instead of 10.4 which was on the original drive.

The Mac Book is my backup and travel computer for my desk Mac and both used 10.4. Now, none of the Apple disk programs on my original disks work in the Mac Book, (e.g. email program is not recognized so it is useless for emails), and only major third-party applications work, like Adobe CS3 and Microsoft Office.

When I try to use the original Mac Book 10.4 disks for the Mac Book it won't replace the new 10.5 system with the older one so I guess I need to erase or reformat the hard drive to somehow reinstall the old system back into the computer, for its intended use. I have no OS-X 10.5 disks and the old system was never on this hard drive, if that matters.

HELP!

Who is the "they" that replaced your original hard drive and loaded Leopard? If it was an Apple store genius or an authorized Apple repair center they should have given you a set of Leopard disks. Or given you a retail (black) version of Leopard.

The only way you can downgrade to Tiger is to erase the hard drive and install Tiger fresh from your disks. Backup your data first.

Regards.
