Here are the Snow Leopard requirements: Mac OS X Snow Leopard - Requirements

SL only needs 1 GB of RAM minimum but you should always have more than the minimum for a smooth experience. Also your Mac needs to be an Intel chip rather than a PowerPC.

SL only lists "1GB" as the minimum since all of the Apple computers that can run SL shipped with 1GB or more memory. It's actually a lighter weight OS than Leopard 10.5, which requires a minimum of 512MB of RAM.

Wait. 10.4.11 is the last Tiger version. You don't mean to tell me that there's a processor with the same version number! My Mini has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, for example, no version that I know of.

Some say that the minimum for Leopard is really not enough. I haven't seen a lower limit for SL defined. Now I know why.

I'm a bit confused by the OP's post also. It almost sounds like he's talking about a dual processor G5 Mac, which if it is, he can't install Snow Leopard anyway.

To the OP: Can you clarify which machine you have?

Regards.

I also had a hunch that it might not have been an Intel Mac but we will have to wait for the OP's reply to know for sure.

I have Snow Leopard on both my laptop and iMac 20", both running better than ever with 2.16Ghz core 2 duo and 2Gb ram. Great investment!
