Problem with Finder window/com.apple.Boot.plist

I tried to custom change the resolution on my mac-book. nothign happened, first the Boot.plist didnt open when ever i tried and then after words when ever i open the folder that holds Boot.plist it acts all weird this is the picture of how it looks when i open the folder.......anyone know whats going on or how to fix it..and itll be helpful if u can tell me how to customize a mac resolution i have 1270x800 i want a bit tighter resolution.
