See below:

xxx-imac:mymovie admin$ ls -a ./iMovie\ Cache/
. ..

xxx-imac:mymovie admin$ sudo rmdir ./iMovie\ Cache/
Password:
rmdir: ./iMovie Cache/: Directory not empty

xxx-imac:mymovie admin$ sudo rm -rf ./iMovie\ Cache
rm: ./iMovie Cache: Directory not empty

xxx-imac:mymovie admin$ sudo rm -Rf ./iMovie\ Cache
rm: ./iMovie Cache: Directory not empty

xxx-imac:mymovie admin$ sudo rm -f ./iMovie\ Cache
rm: ./iMovie Cache: is a directory

xxx-imac:mymovie admin$ sudo rm -R ./iMovie\ Cache
rm: ./iMovie Cache: Directory not empty

xxx-imac:mymovie admin$ sudo rm -d ./iMovie\ Cache
rm: ./iMovie Cache: Directory not empty

xxx-imac:mymovie admin$ sudo rm -df ./iMovie\ Cache
rm: ./iMovie Cache: Directory not empty

xxx-imac:mymovie admin$ sudo rm -dRf ./iMovie\ Cache
rm: ./iMovie Cache: Directory not empty

iMovie no longer uses this directory to store events. iMovie is not running. This directory is on an external drive (formatted by OS X). I am Administrator of the machine.

Would greatly appreciate any ideas.
