After two days of messing with my old MBP I just picked up a new one at the Apple store this afternoon. I am trying to set it up as a new system completely so I am manually going to install everything rather than restore stuff from the time machine (I have decided this as I don't want the bad stuff with the good stuff to be restored on this one)

My question - I can manually copy the iTunes library back to the new system, but what would happen if I connect my iPhone and "sync". Will it erase and reinstall everything from the new mac (applications and music) or will it just copy my existing application data from the iphone and overwrite the one on the mac? Just wanted to understand this step before I connect my iPhone to the mac...

Thanks for your help,
