So I installed Onyx and did some maintenance on my PC. when I shutdown and restart it it does to the Apple logo with the spinning wheel. Then it stops there logo becomes inaccessible and gets stuck there. This happened to me twice but I just backed up from Time Machine and had to reconfigure everything again. Can someone help with this.

What version of OS X are you running? There's different versions of Onyx for 10.4/10.5/10.6.

Also, it's a little confusing when you say PC as generally that's a term that's associated with a machine running Windows.

i'm running 10.6. and I referred to PC because I know the whole Personal Computer would get into someone's soul...it doesn't really associate any particular machine.
**thanks mods for changing my title meant to say trouble but I was ticked off and just typed it so quick...

And you do want to be staying on there good side lol

If you have, of course you have your SL DVD, insert and hold down the 'c' and repair permissions off of that. I know you went through the whole Oynx thing, but repairing from the disk just might sort things out and bring them back into tow.

p3ezi ole mate, is this the 1st time you have run Oynx ??

The PC thing didn't get into my soul, just a bit confusing. Like I said, generally that term is used to differentiate machines running Windows from others, even though the term itself isn't correctly used, but I digress.

So first of all, make sure that you're running the appropriate version of Onyx for your system. Onyx Downloads Page

Also, what exactly are you trying to use it for? If it's for general maintenance, make sure you know exactly what you're doing as you can do some serious damage to your system if you don't.

Here are the settings that I use from time to time for maintenance, give it a try.

Can you get in there and try repair permissions off of your SL DVD ???

Dont do anything drastic mate and keep your cool as there is nearly always a way to fix it. We will be here for the long haul with ya

So try and Repair from the install DVD reboot holding down the 'c' key

Okay, I'm trying to help here, but you have to give some info on what exactly you are doing. Did you try out the settings the way I had them and they didn't work for you? Don't expect people to be mind readers....

I have not seen a post in over 3 years of Onyx crashing a system. The worst I've seen is Onyx not working for those that downloaded the wrong version. Make sure you are downloading from here.

The second question is what exactly are you doing with Onyx maintenance?
I use about the same as 86Apex's settings but without any of the rebuilding items except when specifically needed.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

Well let us know once it's restored, and make sure, like bobtomay said as well, that you have the right version of Onyx for your system.

Ok mate we have that sorted, What have you tried and havnt so far?
I know this is more difficult on the phone, but hang in there. Is caches cleaning the only thing you really did with Oynx ??
Have you tried repairing permissions from the SL install DVD ??

My bad ... Unless you just posted the pic lol

Well dont be afraid to shut down as this is where you see if the Repair did its job. If it still happens we still need to root out the problem. Make sure that your Oynx is set up as 86Apex has outlined in the topper upper post
When i first started and looked at Oynx and it did scare me because i didnt know what to check and uncheck, but im happy and glad i paid a few $ for Main Menu. I like it and works for me. Let us know if problem persists though too, because as bob said Oynx SHOULDNT crash a system
