Problem with programs accessing internet

I have been trying to figure this out for days now and it's driving me insane.

I can access the internet with my browser, both chrome and firefox, but none of my other programs can, no itunes store, no skype, no transmission, nothing.
I checked on canyouseeme and almost all my ports were closed, even though I had disabled the firewall, and I really need some help,

please?

Is this a home computer on a personal network or is it a computer being used from a business or an educational facility? Sounds like you may be bumping up against a company proxy or school firewall.
