Can't Move Files to Trash

Using Snow Leopard, when we try to move a file to trash, we are prompted to enter the system password, but when we do so it still will not move the file to trash. Suggestions?

try dragging the file to the trash can. if thats what you have been doing then try the
cmd + <-- key combo

do you have the files locked? press Option + I and check. Alternatively you can read this tread and try deleting the files using terminal.

You can't empty the Trash or move a file to the Trash
