Hi
I am new to this forum and to Apple computers.

Tried to play some music and Quick time says it cannot play. did some searching and found a program that may allow my mac using quicktime to play these music files.

It is called Flip4Mac or "Windows Media® Components for QuickTime".

I also read by some that this program has issues.....

SO is there a ez way to play these files?

I bought a MAC because I was tired of Windows and crash issues and a gaggle of other things, so I guess I dont want to load this up with unnecessary junk

Thanks

For media playback, you should install the following on a new machine:

Flip4Mac - if you want to play wma
Perian - just about everything else
VLC - the number one pick for a cross platform media player

No different than having to install Flash, Java, pdf reader, etc. on a new Windows machine. There are just some 3rd party stuff ya gotta have.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

I have used Flip4Mac since shortly after it was first introduced hand haven't had any problems. About the only Windows Media Player files I have trouble with are those that are copy protected. You might also find Perian - The swiss-army knife of QuickTime components useful. It plays a wide variety of formats.
