    Migrate or restore? New iMac
Sorry if this has been asked before but I searched and found various answers.

Quite simply I bought a new 27" iMac and want to make sure that it is identical to my 24". My 24" is completely up-to-date software wise and I just completed a recent time machine backup. Is it just a simple case of restoring from time machine? Or because it's a new processor will it be more difficult migrating? (I'm an ex-PC user and used to having to deal with careful re-installations when different CPUs/motherboards are used etc.).

Migrate the user and the apps from the old iMac (or Time Machine if it indeed is backing up not just your user data but the apps as well) and it should work just fine.

Please verify and include the exact model/year of your Mac and OS X version number (available from "About This Mac", then "More Info" on the Apple menu).

The Migration Assistant (Applications => Utilities) can port all of your apps/data/settings over with very little fuss. You can use it with a network cable or a network connection.
Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
