CharacterPallete problem

I have a CharacterPallete(CP) problem If i start the CP from the menu toolbar it works fine, i can input in any document special characters If i start the CP from Terminal open -a /System/Library/Input\ Methods/CharacterPalette.app/ then the CP appear but i cannot insert any character to my documents (only with DragAndDrop) Any idea how to make CP work started via Terminal ???
