Bootcamp, what windows version is best?

i want to bootcamp my macbook but unsure as to whether use windows 7, XP or Vista. I haven't bought any of the software yet but will be in the near future.

and 64bit of 32bit?

any help appreciated.

It's really personal preference. I definitely don't like vista so I would get either windows 7 or xp.

My recommendation will be for Windows 7 if you're going to have to buy it anyway, since being the latest release of Windows, it's going to be supported for a while. XP will be EOL'ed at some point, and Vista was just a debacle..

7 is not officially supported yet, and there is some flakiness with drivers on certain Mac models.

Vista is a disaster.

If you must have it right now, go with XP. I wouldn't worry about support as Microsoft will have to maintain it much longer than they would have with other Windows versions since it was the mainstream release for so long.

64-bit isn't necessary unless you need support for 4GB of RAM or more.

I have XP Pro running, I don't see a need for anything else, I'd never use Vista, and 7 isn't officially supported. I think XP pro has been Microsoft's best OS (not even that good)

7 will more than likely become the Windows platform. But I read MS understands a lot of XP users (and businesses) will stay with XP as long as they can. But I'm sure either one will serve any Windows need one might have.

Yeah, they have a predetermined "End of Life" for each of their products. Rarely do they ever actually go by that schedule as large companies tend to hold onto products forever. I think it took them until about 2004 to fully drop support for Windows NT 4.0, and that was 7 years after its release and 6 and a half service packs

Some independent PC shops should still sell it. Then there is always ebay
