i´m trying to upgrade from 10.4.11 to snow leopard on a macbook pro. i bought the mac box set.
when i put the sl dvd into the drive, the macbook tries to read it, and ejects it after a while without a message.
i tried to reboot with the dvd inside, and also holding the command key and also the c key while booting with the same effect: a gray screen with no message, and the disc gets ejected.
i checked the harddisc with disc utility, seems to be fine.

the dvd is fine as it is recognized immediately on my ibook with leopard: the installation window pops up.

any suggestions??? thanks

Try again and instead just hold the C key and it should boot off the install disc. U dont need to hold the command at the same time.

Any Macbook Pro will run Snow Leopard. In fact any Intel Mac will run SL, just no 64-bit on the Core Duo machines.

This is a brand new Snow Leopard DVD in the Box set with iWork/iLife? Is the DVD dirty at all? Can you put in your original 10.4 DVD that came with your MBP and boot holding down C?
