Hello, i have an iMac G5 17" 1.8 GHz PowerPc G5 processor with version tiger 10.4.11. I would like to upgrade to Intel core 2 duo without buying a new iMac so i could get leopard 10.5.1 but really don't have a clue how too. Could anyone help me out please ? It would be much appreciated. My email address is {removed to protect poster from spam}. Thank you for reading.

G'day matt and welcome to the forums.

1. You cannot do that alas.

2. Sell the G5 iMac and buy an Intel model is the only way.

3. You don't need an Intel machine for Leopard 10.5.1. It should install on your PPC machine just fine.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

And also, discussion forums are not fast food joints. We are a community. Please don't ask people to email you answers to your technical questions.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

As bobtomay says, Leopard OS X.5.8 will install on the iMac, and hopefully cwa107 removed your email address quickly otherwise you are going to have a VERY spammy Christmas!
