Hi all, new user here but a Mac user since '94
Want to update from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 mostly due to a requirement of the
Logic Studio 9.02 update that I want to run.
I have a fairly new system drive which is clean and only has Logic Pro and
my plugins installed.
I have been using Leopard for only around 6 months ( Pro musician so I'm careful about major upgrades )
When trying to install the combo update, i get as far as "configuring installation" and that's it !
Even waiting for 2 hours the indicator bar does not move forward at all.
Have spoken to apple twice and they are stumped !
Removed all external hardware and went back to apple mouse/keyboard only.
Have tried everything that I and apple techs can think of .... NOTHING works.

Does anyone have an idea - other than repair permissions and all the usual stuff ?

Thanks,
Marty.

When you say removed all external etc, that include Airport or ethernet cable?

When having these problems find the best way is to download only the combo updater, it is stored in Downloads under Home, remove everything except KB and mouse, disable AV if installed, run Repair Permissions, drag updater to desktop and double click and let it run.

When finished run Repair Permissions again and reconnect everything.

Thanks for the reply, do you mean remove AV extension from my FireFace800?
It's disconnected along with everything else including ethernet etc.

Marty.
