How to use a proxy in mail?

Hello everyone, i was just wondering if it is possible to use a proxy server with mail because my college has blocked the port that lets my mail receive my gmail emails. I already have a proxy that works set up, i just need to know if it is possible to configure mail in order to bypass the universities firewall to fetch my gmail emails. Thanks!

Simple solution: Go to gmail Settings/Forwarding and set it to auto forward your gmail to the server/mailbox that your college server likes. Then have Mail retrieve your email from that location.
