Mac OS X v10.2 “Jaguar” keeps failing.

I borrowed a Mac OS X v10.2 “Jaguar” CD from one of my friends so I could boot up my Power Mac G4. I’ve been trying to install it, it goes through everything flawlessly but then when it goes to the ‘Installing’ stage it cuts off and says ‘Installer accidently closed (error 1)’ and it’s been doing that for several days. Can anyone help?

Jaguar was a step along the path and Panther continued the progress but in todays scene i would suggest that you start with Tiger which still is a stable OS unlike its predecessors. Make sure you have enough Ram - 256 does not really allow for much freedom. Hunt for one of these on eBay - i assume u are in the US;

I'm in The United Kingdom. I understand what you're saying but can you identify the problem?

Mac Specs: Dual Core 2.3GHz G5 OS X.5.8 8GB DDR2 RAM
And the silver grey system restore disc from any other Mac is very much model specific ONLY and will not install.

Do you know the specs on the Powermac G4 at all? What does the 10.2 Jaguar CD you have there look like? Color? What does it say on it?

Here is a pic of the Retail 10.2 Jaguar CD #1. I still have the box and the 2 CD's and the Developer Tools. Bought it new.
