hey,

I am trying to format a newly bought 1.5 TB HDD and it seems that Disk Utility does not want to create a partition bigger than 1.00 TB. when I type in 1.5 TB in the "Size" box in the "Partition" tab, it automatically reverts back to 1.00 TB.

Can anybody help me ?

Thanks for your help guys

How big does Disk Utility say the drive is? Keep in mind please, that while marketing departments always use base 10 for determining drive size.. Operating systems use base 2.

This is a secondary hard drive I just installed, not a boot device.
(Would it change anything if it were a boot device ?)

I figured it out.

I was using the "Format" tab, but when using the "Erase" tab it automatically creates a 1.5TB partition, that's perfect.

Thanks again guys for your input
