History of OS X and older operating Systems with Apple.

Just a questions on Apple's different operating systems used since they started to the present. What were the different opearting system versions used since Apple started making computers till the present? Also, when did they start giving animal names to each operating version of their operating systems? Also, was there any specific operating system that Apple used that was just plain horrible (In Windows, ME was the worst, my opinion). The only reason I'm asking is because I'm new to Apple computers and the OS experience. Any historic insight would be appreciated!
Take Care and May God Bless!

Also downloading the application Mactracker will help.
There in that application is a complete history of every Macintosh and every operating system Apple has ever put out with a good amount of info about each one. That application will give you the information you want.
