I downloaded MAC OS 10.4 as a dmg file.
so using a tool in dos i converted it to an iso file
the size of the file is over 2gbs.
i used nero to burn onto a dvd.

but my apple notebook which doesnt have an OS doesnt work.
Any advice?

Wait till Tiger is released and buy it.

At a guess the conversion is screwing up the ability to boot from the DVD or you are not setting the DVD to be bootable in Nero. ( I know you used to have to do this, but I do not know if it is still true.)
