thanks!
if the app is minimized or in a different space maybe, it won't show up with cmd+tab

guess I'll add a shortcut too:
cmd+d for Don't Save, right before that one you need cmd+q or +w

these threads get soo confusing, or is it just me?

Unhappy Command C/V do not function properly - intermittant beahvaviour

I got a Mac just after Christmas and have been very happy with it so far. However one bothersome issue that has come up recently is when the Command C/V shortcuts don't function properly. My wife has had this happe to her on her session a few times recently and it's quite a mystery to me. The edit menu doesn't work either and it seems to be across all applications. A logoff normally cures it. Any ideas ?

I understand the purpose of setting the Hot Keys. But I am a little unclear on the second option: "Use F1 through F15 as Hot Keys...". If you click in on...then the option key is needed to use regular F keys. But if it is off...is it safe to assume that you have to use Option to get Hot F Keys? It seems to work that way...but then I haven't defined any.

Thanks for the help.
Actually, you press the "fn" button on the bottom left corner of the keyboard.

I think there are two missing from here:

command-down arrow is to open a file, folder, application, etc.

command-up arrow is to open the enclosing folder of the selected file, folder, application, etc.

I guess they are the key with odd looking lines (I refer to it as the alt key because it says alt on it also) and the key with a small apple and a squiggly symbol on (I refer to this as the apple key for obvious reasons!)

Could someone also tell me how I can get # symbol without having to access the special characters window?
shift-3 for the # symbol?

Also, "command" used to be the  key, and "option" is the alt key.

Yes. Shift is basically a slow-motion key, I think. For example, when you hold down Shift and click on the Minimize button, it minimizes in slow motion.

It's got the perfect position for something like that, too (At least on this Powerbook it does) - Forward delete on one button right besides the cursor keys? Yum! Yum!

thx in advance
try fn-delete

Also, on Macs with new F-key layouts (F1-2 is backlight, F3 is exposé, F4 is dashboard, etc.), pressing option-F1/F2 (as the backlight adjustment keys) takes you to Displays preferences, option-F3/F4 goes to "Exposé and Spaces", option-F5/F6 goes to "Keyboard", option-F10/F11/F12 is "Sound" preferences.

Unhappy keyboard shortcuts on windows OS

I have a mac pro laptop and I have windows installed as VM. I only used autocad there but I'm having a lot of headaches because when I work inside the windows environment in autocad or any other program the keyboard gets all messed up, or else, all those symbols like question mark, underscore, brackets... get all mixed up and, for instance, when I presse the underscore key I get a questionmark instead of the wanted underscore...

How can I solve this problem?

thanx for your time and help
